Funny how my last blog post was in February about missing summer and now it is summer! Well if you’re wondering where I’ve been we were moving in February and exactly 1 week after moving into our new house, my twin girls decided to make an early grand entrance. At 11 weeks early, we welcomed Savannah Kay Burdick at 12:22am at 2.7lbs and 14in. and Brooklyn Kay Burdick at 12:23am at 2.12lbs and 14.4in. So it’s safe to say we’ve been super busy!
Because of their early arrival, both girls were immediately admitted to the NICU. This meant lots of trips back and forth to the hospital all while recovering from a c-section. Then Brooklyn came home first after spending 40 days in the hospital giving us a chance to get adjusted to the new journey we were about to embark on called parenthood. But then we had to go back and forth to the hospital with a baby in tow!
Insert tired emoji here! Ok, maybe insert a few of them.
But our family wasn’t whole without Savannah. Her homecoming kept getting postponed and we were starting to get very frustrated. But it turns out after 64 days in the hospital, she wanted to come home on Mother’s Day and give me the best present ever!! We were all together finally! One tiny, new family of 4!
Now we have TWO whole tiny human babies to care for! We are exhausted still but couldn’t be happier! And now, we can all love on each other in the comfort of our own home and not in a yucky hospital with alarms beeping on and off.
But now on the business end, I get models for life and I am so excited to share some of their newborn session with you all. They are also my first set of twins to photograph but I think it’s safe to say I’ll get plenty of practice. Enjoy!
